| Niles F. Sorensen will begin his tenure as vice chancellor for development
and alumni affairs at UNC Charlotte on August 28. Mr. Sorensen chiefly will
provide executive leadership for the Division of Development and Alumni Affairs,
with an overall annual operating budget of nearly $2.2 million and supervisory
responsibility for 30 employees, including college development officers. He
also will serve as president of the university’s recently reorganized
Foundation, working with an appointed 45-member board to enhance the university’s ongoing base of private support.
Additionally, he will work with the 32-member UNC Charlotte Alumni
Association Board of Directors to expand the institution’s alumni-related
programs and activities, including establishing vibrant in-state
and out-of-state chapters.
He holds a B.S. in Public Administration from Indiana University.
