| As
the University’s chief research and federal
relations officer, Stephen Mosier is responsible
for developing the University’s research strategic
plan, providing services that support research,
and managing the University’s relationship
with federal agencies and Congress. Units within
Research & Federal Relations include Research
Services, Proposal Development, Technology Transfer,
Vivarium, the Ben Craig Center, and the Global Institute
for Energy and Environmental Systems.
Dr. Mosier joined UNC Charlotte in March 1998.
He received the BS in Physics from the College
of William and Mary and the MS and PhD in Space
Physics from the University of Iowa. Prior to
coming to UNC Charlotte, he served as Director
of Research Services at UNC Greensboro, Associate
Vice President for International Affairs at the
University of Houston System, Director of the
U.S.-French and U.S.-Japanese programs at the
National Science Foundation, and a senior space
scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center,
where he led NASA’s Science Definition Study
for the joint U.S.-Netherlands-U.K. Infrared Astronomical
Satellite mission.
Dr.
Mosier is the founder and past Board Chairman
of the North Carolina Association for Biomedical
Research and received a commendation from Research!America
in 1997 for his work and advocacy on behalf of
biomedical research. He is cited in American Men
and Women of Science, Who’s Who in Science
and Engineering, Who's Who in American Education,
Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s
Who in the World.
